G1000 Smoke Density Monitor

Opacity Meter & Emission Control

The G1000 Smoke Density Monitor is used to check smoke emissions from all kinds of combustion such as diesel engines, incinerators, and boilers. It is ideal for applications where a prompt and accurate response to the smoke and dust density is required, regardless of weather conditions or daylight.

Green Instruments A/S - founded in 1999 under the name of SBS Technology A/S - has seven years experience in monitoring and analyzing exhaust gasses on ocean going vessels. More than 800 delivered units give us the decisive experience for providing state of the art technology for harsh marine environments.

Robust Technology & Versatile Design

The G1000 Smoke Density Monitor is a particular robust system that is well suited to resist heat and vibrations in and around a smokestack. Our patented technology removes the light source from the smoke stack contrary to traditional opacity monitors used on the land side.

Furthermore, the G1000 Smoke Density Monitor is easy to keep clean with purge air and easy to maintain. This robustness is combined with high flexibility which means that the G1000 Smoke Density Monitor can be installed in very diverse settings. With only 5.5 kg, the monitoring unit can be placed almost anywhere. This gives you the liberty of adapting the system to your special needs.

Benefits to Economy & Environment

Port authorities and regional authorities around the world - but especially in North America - are to increasing degrees regulating emissions from ships. In Alaska for example, the Marine Vessel Visible Emission Standards are set in 18 AAC 50.070.

Local and regional legislation in this area is to increasing degrees expanded. Although legislation is varying, regulations in the USA would typically rule that ships may not emit smoke with an opacity of more than 20% for more than 3 minutes. Fines start at $25,000 and can end with jail and banning the fleet of the respective ship owner from this port or region.

Installing an G1000 Smoke Density Monitor will help you check and document compliance with environmental standards. This will avoid fines, time-consuming investigations, and costly delays. The cost of installing an G1000 Smoke Density Monitor is marginal compared to a single fine.

Monitoring the emissions of your ships will also contribute positively to your image as environmentally responsible company. Especially black smoke has the potential of severely harming that image.
